Did you know it’s possible to see all popular sites in London in an hour? Yes it’s possible – but you need a bike.
We cycled back to our hotel from the V&A after seeing the fashion exhibition from Spanish couturier Cristóbal Balenciaga (Vivienne you would of loved it!), and an exhibition on plywood (yes – you read that right).
I’m not saying any of the following photos are great – but you great a sense of what we saw in short space of time of back to our hotel. Along the way we cycled the “super highway” and it was totally awesome… cycling at a relatively fast pace with rest of Londoners cycling at end of day, on lanes which are only for bikes. There are so many people using these routes, you really get a sense of the large cycling community in London.

It was one of the best days on the Brompton ever – and makes me really pleased we’ve brought them with us.so yes… carry down the flight of stairs was worth it!
Hot Cross Buns, you normally see them in the shops after Christmas. I love them, all the different types, chocolate, mocha, traditional. But this is what I saw in the suputhis evening. I would like to remind everyone it’s only August.
No, I did not buy them!
On the internet there are lots of lists on what bookshops you can visit in the world. Having been to a few of these.. from my perspective the best one is the one that haves what you need and provides a range of material which inspires and challenges you.. (a lot like a library right?!).
In Adelaide the options are pretty limited. But if I was in England I would go to Foyles – what an amazing bookshop!!! Loved it – so many books I wanted to buy – but didn’t. There are a lot of floors, and a cafe and gallery in the top. If you are going to London – go here!
While on holiday we’ve chosen to spend some time in Hull visiting relatives. I’ve been to Hull many times over the years, and it certainly has improved. We spent the day walking around with my uncle – even exploring some places he did not recognise, and taking him to some he had not visited in decades. As they say nothing like being a tourist in your own town! It’s certainly been great catching up.
And there is nothing like controversial public art!

While on holiday it’s great to catch up with family & friends. This trip is no exception. We went to Hull to visit my uncle. While we’re we’re there we also cycled over the Humber Bridge – once the longest single span bridge in the world. This was surpassed many years ago… but it was a great ride.
We had a chat to the artist painting a tribute to Amy Johnson (first female to fly solo from Britain to Australia)- who was born in Hull. We shared some photos of graffiti we’d seen in Gdansk – which he enjoyed. Hopefully, I’ll see the finished version on the internet.
After that we set off for the bridge. We saw some art along Hessle Road
Traverses some interesting roads/footpaths/ cycle paths
Stopped briefly in Hessle to visit the library.
… and we went on our way again (no public toilets, newspapers or magazines), and over the bridge.
We stopped by the Sloop Inn for lunch
…. and back then North Ferriby.
Where we had another drink (needed energy to get back to my uncles)… and cycled down Boothferry road – which was a fabulous downhill. It was certainly a grand ride!
There are many things to love (just a few)
… and things to hate, like broken glass in bike lanes, and litter.
Cycling is a little crazy in Paris – rules?! Not sure what they are and who is following them – probably no one!
Well folks, our Europe leg is over, and we’re about to board a flight to Japan.
We fared pretty well, and cycling lived up to our expectations. Including the four flat tyres we’ve had (Berlin, Paris, London, and Warsaw). Kym’s done a sterling job on changing the back tyre! Yes, we didn’t realise the irony of the sign until we’d started.
The meal and breakfast at Faviken lived up to everything we expected – and then some! The experience was fabulous, and really enjoyable. Now keen to try more Nordic food. We even met a couple of Australian’s – hello!
Walkinh on the roof on buildings in Stockholm was something else.
