    British trains look excellent – not like those on the Gawler/Adelaide line which I’m familiar with!

      I hate to disappoint you but many of them are older and yuckier than the Gawler trains. Amazingly they still use diesel trains on some busy lines. They are also habitually late.

    Sounds a bit like some of the French and Italian lines where trains are often in “retard” making it easy to miss vital connections

      The problem, is we’re used to the punctuality and cleanliness of the Japanese trains.

    I understand why you and Helen just love JAPAN! From memory, I think the Swiss are pretty punctual too.
